Resources

Congress passed the National Trails System Act in 1968, establishing a framework for a nationwide system of scenic, recreational and historic trails. The Nez Perce (Nee-me-Poo) National Historic Trail stretches from Wallowa Lake, Oregon, to the Bear Paw Battlefield near Chinook, Montana. Learn more about the Nez Perce (Nee-Me-Poo) National Historic Trail on the Forest Service web site.

Books to Read

There have been many books written on the Nez Perce War and the Flight of 1877. Here is a bibliography to guide you. You can even order an audio or digital book right now (from many of the sources that offer this service) and begin listening as you travel. For book orders, we recommend using bookshop.org as they support independent bookstores.
